Self-Care Isn’t Selfish: Why Women Must Prioritize Their Well-being
As women, we often find ourselves pouring into others—family, friends, and work—until there is little left for ourselves. Prioritizing self-care is essential for both our mental and spiritual well-being. It is not a selfish act, but an acknowledgment that our well-being matters.
The Bible encourages us to honor our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, we read, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit…you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” This verse reminds us that by caring for ourselves, we honor the sacred vessel that God has entrusted to us.
Furthermore, Matthew 11:28-30 offers the comforting words of Jesus: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Rest is not a luxury—it is necessary for living a life of balance and joy. When we neglect self-care, we cannot fully live out the purpose God has for us. By investing time in rest, reflection, and rejuvenation, we are better equipped to serve others and fulfill the calling on our lives.
Self-care is essential, not just for personal well-being but for spiritual growth and alignment with God’s plan.
